About
Nestled within the Pretty Lake Quiet Area, this rustic campground offers 18 sites suitable for tents and trailers of all sizes. The quiet area designation allows for unmotorized use only, including Pretty Lake and its surrounding lakes. Pretty Lake anchors the northern end of a seven-lake chain, connected by short portages to Brush, Camp 8, Long, Bullhead, and Beaverhouse lakes. The campground also features a day-use area with picnic tables and a charcoal grill.
For a more secluded experience, there are eight walk-in/paddle-in sites (sites #19-#26) along the Pretty Lake Pathway and chain of lakes. Sites #22-24 are on Beaverhouse Lake, sites #25-26 are on Camp 8 Lake and sites #19-#21 are between Long Lake and Camp 8 Lake. There are some short portages. The farthest walk is about 1.5 miles to Beaverhouse Lake and the shortest is about 0.8 miles to the sites between Long Lake and Camp 8 Lake.
The Pretty Lake Pathway, which leads to the walk-in campsites, can be accessed on the west side of the campground.
The campground is located 25 miles northwest of Newberry via M-123 and County Roads 407 and 416.
18 rustic campsites, $20 a night. Open all year; the road may not be plowed in winter. First come, first served; register at the campground kiosk on the day you arrive. Vault toilets and a hand-pump well for drinking water; no electricity or hookups. One camping unit and six people per site, 15 nights at most. Managed from Muskallonge Lake State Park (906-658-3338).
