About

Polk County Conservation campground in the Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt, a large wetland and prairie preserve along the Skunk River northeast of Des Moines. 18 sites: 15 with electric (site 9 is full hookup; sites 7 and 8 are a buddy site) and three non-electric tent sites. First come, first served only, normally open April 1 to November 30. The county has the campground closed because of flood damage through the end of 2026 - check with Polk County Conservation before going.
