About

Wawayanda State Park, near Hewitt in the Highlands, surrounds Wawayanda Lake with swimming, boating, and extensive hiking and mountain-biking trails including a section of the Appalachian Trail. Camping here is group-only - 4 sites (minimum 7 people each), with picnic tables, fire rings, and a composting restroom. Water is not available at the campsites and must be carried from the main office; there are no shower facilities. Open April 1 through Oct. 31. Firewood is available for purchase at the park office.

New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry rate for Wawayanda's group campsites: Site 1 (up to 15 people) $30/night NJ resident, $60/night non-resident; Site 2 (up to 35 people) $70/night NJ resident, $140/night non-resident; Site 3 (up to 25 people) $50/night NJ resident, $100/night non-resident; Site 4 (up to 10 people) $20/night NJ resident, $40/night non-resident.
