About

Walk-in tent sites in Bergen County's 4,000-acre Ramapo Valley County Reservation: nine numbered sites on the loop trail around Scarlet Oak Pond, reached on foot over a footbridge across the Ramapo River from the parking lot on Ramapo Valley Road (Route 202). Carry everything in; cars stay in the lot. Tent camping only in the designated sites; up to six people per site; the permit holder must be 21 or older; each person may camp no more than two weeks a year. A separate fire permit is needed for campfires. Camping is by county permit, applied for online through the Parks Department's permit system. Catch-and-release fishing with a state license; miles of marked hiking trails. Pets must be leashed. Open April 1 to November 30.

Fees

$25 per site per night for Bergen County residents, $50 for non-residents, plus a $25 security deposit.
