About

Bergen County-owned camp in the Ramapo Mountains above Mahwah, run for the county by the Friends of Glen Gray: seven tent areas holding 6 to 30 people each (Northbrook, Eagle's Nest, Howard Tober, Stag Run, Ramapo, Hawk Ridge, and Bobcat Hollow), lean-to areas, and cabins around Lake Vreeland, with hiking trails, fishing, rowboats, and an amphitheater. Long popular with scout and youth groups; the county's page does not limit it to organized groups. Open most weekends from 5 pm Friday to 11 am Sunday and closed on major holiday weekends. Reservations only, through the camp's online request form at least a week ahead; gear can be trucked in from the lot for $30 a load. Fees are not published online.
