Stokes State Forest

Stokes State Forest, in the Kittatinny Mountains near Branchville, spans several distinct camping areas: the main Campsites loop (90 sites), Steam Mill (27 tent and pop-up sites), Lake Ocquittunk (26 trailer/tent/platform sites with flush toilets and showers), and Shotwell (27 trailer/tent sites, 9 lean-tos, and 6 platform sites, New Jersey's pet-friendly camping area here, no showers), plus 10 group sites at Haskins and 8 group lean-tos at Lake Ashroe. None of the standard sites have hookups. Amenities vary by area - some have flush toilets and showers, others only pit toilets. Ten separate furnished cabins are also available near Lake Ocquittunk. Pets are allowed specifically at the Shotwell area (family sites 101-137). Alcohol is prohibited.

New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry rate for Stokes's several camping areas: standard family and Steam Mill sites $20/night NJ resident, $25/night non-resident. Haskins group sites: A-F (up to 30 people) $60/$120 per night; G (up to 65) $130/$260; H (up to 10) $20/$40; I (up to 45) $90/$180; Z at Lake Ashroe (up to 40) $80/$160 (NJ resident/non-resident). Lean-tos $35/$40 per night; group lean-tos (Lake Ashroe) $105-150 per night. Cabins $55-140/night or $385-980/week depending on cabin. A $5 non-refundable reservation fee applies per booking.
