City-run campground in 8,000+-acre Newport News Park. 188 sites: no-utility, electric-only, and electric-and-water. Heated showers and flush toilets, paved roadways and parking pads, picnic tables, grills, playgrounds, laundry facilities, a camper store, and 24-hour Park Ranger patrol. Reservations up to a year ahead (online or by calling 757-888-3333); check-in 2pm, check-out noon; first-night deposit required. Pets allowed with a rabies certificate.
Fees
No utilities: $33/night. Electric only: $39/night. Electric and water: $40/night. Seniors (60+): $2 discount. Youth group site: $55/night. Boy Scout primitive area: $45/night.
