Hither Hills State Park occupies two miles of ocean beach on Long Island's South Fork near Montauk, one of the most popular camping destinations in the state and often booked far in advance. The campground has 190 campsites (the J Loop is tent-only), none with electric or water hookups, plus shower/comfort stations, restrooms, and a dump station. Pets are not permitted anywhere in the park. Reserve early, as sites here fill quickly.
Fees
Standard sites run about $17 per night plus a $7.25 reservation fee. Oceanfront sites may carry an additional per-night surcharge, and out-of-state campers pay an additional $5 per night. This is one of the most in-demand campgrounds in the state, so book as early as possible.
