Spruce Run Recreation Area

Spruce Run Recreation Area, on Spruce Run Reservoir near Clinton, offers swimming, boating, and fishing on one of New Jersey's larger lakes. The campground has 60 standard tent/trailer sites, 7 trailer-only sites with water and 30/50-amp electric hookups (no sewer), and 3 small camping shelters; no group campsites are offered here (Voorhees State Park, administered together with Spruce Run, has the nearby group sites instead). Modern restrooms with showers and an RV dump station are on site. Open April 1 through Oct. 31. Pets and alcohol are prohibited in the campground.

New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry rate for Spruce Run's campground: tent/trailer (60 sites) $20/night NJ resident, $25/night non-resident; trailer-only sites with water and 30/50-amp electric hookup, no sewer (7 sites) $30/night NJ resident, $35/night non-resident; shelter (3 sites, sleeps 4, wood stove, no kitchen/bath) $48/night NJ resident, $60/night non-resident; group site (1 site, up to 50 people) $100/night NJ resident, $200/night non-resident. A $5 transaction fee applies per booking. The RV dump station is included with camping reservations; non-campers pay $20 (NJ resident) or $30 (non-resident). Pets are not permitted in the campground.
