About
New River State Park protects one of the oldest rivers in the world, with drive-to and walk-in camping at the US 221 Access near Laurel Springs, a separate walk-in campground at the Wagoner Access near Jefferson (about 17 miles away by road), and primitive paddle-in-only campsites at several additional put-ins along the river corridor (Alleghany, Prathers Creek, Riverbend, and The Peak), reachable only by canoe or kayak. A handful of sites have electric hookups; showers, restrooms, and a dump station are available at the main access areas.
Fees
Primitive paddle-in sites run about $17/night, non-electric sites about $27/night, and electric sites about $32-$42/night. Confirm current rates when booking.
