About
This rustic campground offers 16 tent and small trailer sites, almost entirely surrounded by water and perfect for paddling. Situated on the edge of the northern edge of the Kingston Plains, the location is a reminder of the 1800s logging boom.
The Fox River Pathway takes visitors four miles to Lake Superior. Kingston Lake is the closest state forest campground to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
The campground is located 18.8 miles southwest of Grand Marais via H-58.
16 rustic campsites, $20 a night. Open all year; the road may not be plowed in winter. First come, first served; register at the campground kiosk on the day you arrive. Vault toilets and a hand-pump well for drinking water; no electricity or hookups. One camping unit and six people per site, 15 nights at most. Managed from Indian Lake State Park (906-341-2355).
