About
This rustic campground is set along the Manistee River, which is part of the National Wild and Scenic River system. Shaded by a stand of red pines, the campground provides 31 tent and small trailer sites. Enjoy excellent river access for kayaking, canoeing, tubing and fishing.
Visitors will also enjoy an abundance of nearby off-road vehicle trails, including the Kalkaska Route, which passes near the campground entrance. For a comprehensive list of designated ORV trails and routes, visit www.michigan.gov/orvtrails.
The campground is located 22.4 miles southwest of Grayling via M-72 East and Sunset Trail Road Southeast.
31 rustic campsites, $20 a night. Open all year; the road may not be plowed in winter. First come, first served; register at the campground kiosk on the day you arrive. Vault toilets and a hand-pump well for drinking water; no electricity or hookups. One camping unit and six people per site, 15 nights at most. Managed from Traverse City State Park (231-922-5270).
