About
US Forest Service campground. The area is part of the mineral belt that extends into Leadville. Many of the four-wheel drive roads were created by miners over 100 years ago, which are now popular for four-wheel driving in the summer and fall months. The campground is near the Alpine Tunnel historic site. Not reservable through Recreation.gov, so plan on first-come, first-served; check with the ranger district for current conditions and fees.
