About

Primitive boat-in island camping run by the City of Norwalk Recreation and Parks Department on Shea Island, Ram Island and Grassy Island in the Norwalk Islands, off Norwalk Harbor in Long Island Sound. The map point is Shea Island, the largest of the three, with Ram Island adjoining it; Grassy Island is about 1.3 miles to the east-northeast. The city charges one nightly camping fee for the islands and does not publish a site count, campsite map or season; camping is allowed only in areas the city designates, and campers must register with police on request. Permits and information come through the Veterans Park Boating Center in season or the Recreation and Parks office at 203-854-7806 - call before going, as sites are not booked online.

Fees

$20 per campsite per night for residents and nonresidents; nonresidents also pay a $30 registration fee.
