About

Town of Columbia's island campsite for paddlers in the William Schomburg Memorial Recreation Area, on the New Hampshire side of the Connecticut River across from Lyman Falls State Park in Vermont, just upstream of the old breached dam. Land on the island's southwest side next to the dam and follow the path to the site, which has a fire ring, picnic table, and privy; revitalized in 2018 in memory of a local conservationist. Reached only by canoe or kayak. No fees. No drinking water - bring, filter, or boil. Up to 12 campers; two nights maximum. The recreation area on the shore has a picnic and river-access area, a cobble beach for swimming and fishing, parking, and a privy.
