About

Town of Barnstable beach camping on the front beach of Sandy Neck, a six-mile barrier beach on Cape Cod Bay, for self-contained motorhomes and slide-on truck campers with an off-road-vehicle permit. Vehicles must have a permanent toilet and separate gray and black tanks; no cassette or compost toilets, and no pull-behind or fifth-wheel trailers. Stays run up to 96 hours, then 24 hours off the beach. Nightly camping fees apply in season, May 1 to October 31, on top of the annual ORV permit; drivers may be asked to pass a beach driving test. No water, restrooms, or hookups on the beach. Dogs on leash except where shorebird nesting closes an area. The town does not publish a site count, and the stretch open to camping changes with tides, storms, and nesting closures. Reserved online, with each week's spaces released Mondays at 4 pm. This shares a point with the park's hike-in tent sites: both are pinned at the park gatehouse, and the camping beach runs east from there.

Fees

In season, per night: slide-on truck camper $12 for Barnstable residents / $24 non-residents; motorhome $16 / $32. An annual ORV permit is also required, $100 residents / $250 non-residents.
