About

Elkwood Campground is in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, 50 km south of Hwy. 1 on Hwy. 40 and south on Kananaskis Lakes Trail. This large campground offers well-treed sites for RVs and tents, and has both unserviced and power/water options. There are many amenities and activities available here, including interpretive programs, a playground, showers, hiking trails, paved bike paths, and close access to the Kananaskis Lakes.

Operated by Cedar & Spruce Campgrounds.

Reservations can be made 90 days in advance of arrival date.

On-site manager & caretaker. Fall 2026: Campground loops A and B are open until October 12. Campground loops C and D are open until September 13.

Firewood: Firewood available for purchase at Boulton Creek Campground store and on site from campground attendants.

Water: Water services are available seasonally from mid-May to early September; weather dependent. Campers are expected to bring their own water during the shoulder seasons. Showers are token operated.

Sewage: Sewage available from early June - September (weather-dependent).
