Shelokum Lake Trailhead the Forest Service's write-up
The Shelokum Lake trail is 2.3 miles long. The trail begins in Bailey Bay, 1/2 mile south of Shelokum Creek, and climbs steadily to Shelokum Lake. Hikers must ford Maude Creek before reaching the lake. It is impassable during high water. The upper section of the trail follows the shore to the inlet of Spring Creek, where there is a three-sided shelter. Built by the CCC, the shelter is located in Spring Valley, near Bailey Bay Hot Springs. These springs are completely undisturbed and support a healthy population of unique algae and plant life.
