Linkins Lake TH #1979 the Forest Service's write-up

Linkins Lake trail begins to the left (west) of the Roaring Fork River. This is the trailhead for the Lost Man Trail also. In 200 yards the trail forks, take the left to Linkins Lake (the right goes to Lost Man). The trail ascends steeply to a glacial cirque containing the lake. There are magnificent views of the Continental Divide. This is a moderately steep trail to a high alpine lake above timberline with fair fishing. Beware of severe afternoon thunderstorms. Please, be careful of the three-foot trees along the way, as they may be 200 years old. Camping is not recommended, due to fragile alpine tundra and exposure.

Restrictions Linkins Lake Trail is within the Hunter-Fryingpan Wilderness, please educate yourself about Wilderness Ethics.* Out of consideration for others and wildlife - DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH.

About this trail's facts

The lines are the US Forest Service's National Forest System trails layer (public domain), read 2026-10-16 and simplified for the map; the length is the line's, end to end, and the class, surface, grade and tread width are the forest's own entries where it publishes them - a forest that publishes the centreline alone has none. The trailheads and the points along the way are the Service's recreation points, and the write-ups its own recarea text, unedited. Heights come from USGS 3DEP through Terrain Tiles on AWS (Mapzen/Tilezen), read along each line and rounded; a short trail on steep ground can be off by a few tens of feet. Closures change: check the forest's own site before you go.
