About
Staunton River State Park spreads across 2,400 acres of woods and meadows where the Dan and Staunton rivers meet Virginia's largest lake, Buggs Island Lake, making it a favorite for boating, water skiing, and freshwater fishing. As an International Dark Sky Park, it's also a top spot for stargazing, with rental telescopes and astronomy programs. Campers can choose between a standard campground with tent and RV sites and a separate equestrian campground with covered horse stalls, both with hookups, hot showers, and a dump station; cabins are also on site, not counted in the total above.
Fees

A $5 non-refundable transaction fee plus Virginia sales tax applies to every booking. Dump station use is free for overnight campers ($10/visit for day visitors); non-camper shower access is $5/person. Pets are allowed at this campground at no additional charge, on a leash no longer than 6 feet and kept under control at all times, per Virginia State Parks' statewide camping pet policy; current rabies vaccination is strongly recommended.
