About
Located west of Bonaparte Lake, Hammer Lake recreation site offers 11 campsites and a boat launch. Boaters should be aware that power-driven vessels are prohibited on this lake under the Vessel Operation Restriction Regulations (Transport Canada). Electric motors are permitted.
Road access. Maintained to Recreation Sites and Trails BC standards by a partner or contractor. Facilities on file: boat launch, toilets, picnic tables, fire rings. First come, first served.
Getting there: This recreation site may be accessed either via Hwy 97 at 70 Mile House, or via Hwy 24 near Bridge Lake. From Hwy 97 in 70 Mile House, turn east onto 70 Mile-Green Lake/North Bonaparte Road. Follow this route for approximately 32 km, staying on the North Bonaparte (which becomes the 3200 Road) to about the 32-47 km marker, and turn right onto Young Lake Road. Follow Young Lake Road for about 11 km and then turn left onto the Eagan-Bonaparte Forest Service Road at the 37-09 km marker. Continue approximately an additional 28 km and turn right onto the access road into Hammer Lake. If you are travelling from Hwy 24, travel along Hwy 24 to Bridge Lake and turn south onto the Bridge Lake Business Route. From the Bridge Lake Store, take North Bonaparte Road and travel 2.2 km and then turn left onto the Eagan-Bonaparte Forest Service Road (3700 Road). After passing Eagan Lake, continue travelling southeast towards Bonaparte Lake. Follow the road south past Bonaparte Lake and then turn northwest remaining on the 3700 Road. Follow the road for another 0.8 km and turn left onto the access road into Hammer Lake.
