Mount Mitchell State Park, atop the highest peak east of the Mississippi near Burnsville, has a small 9-site non-electric campground with no showers or dump station - just flush toilets, comfort stations, fire rings, and water spigots. The campground is closed for a water line replacement project through the end of 2026; confirm it has reopened before planning a trip.
