US Forest Service campground. The Himes Peak Campground has 11 campsites. It provides direct access to Big Fish Trail #1819, and hiking in the Flat Tops Wilderness. Fishing in nearby Rainbow Lake and Big Fish Lake is good. Elk hunting can be very good in season. Open season: May 14, 2021 . Not reservable through Recreation.gov, so plan on first-come, first-served; check with the ranger district for current conditions and fees.
