About

Valley County campground on the North Fork of the Payette, beside the Wellington Snow Park at Smith's Ferry. Semi-primitive - no septic, electric or water at the sites - with fire rings, picnic tables and vault toilets. Suitable for tents, vans and trailers or motorhomes under 30 feet. There is no trash collection at all, so everything you bring has to go out with you. First-come, first-served, cash or check on site. Maintained with the Cougar Mountain Club. The county opened the campground on May 19 in 2026 and closes it after Labor Day weekend, staying open longer if the weather allows.
