About

Inyo County campground along Independence Creek a mile west of the town of Independence, on the road up to Onion Valley. Sites with tables, grills and fire rings under cottonwoods; vault toilets; no hookups or showers. Water is shut off in winter. Sites 16-29 are closed because of a damaged bridge. Trout fishing in the creek from the last Saturday in April through November 15. Dog friendly. Open year-round; reservations through ReserveAmerica or first-come with automated pay stations.
