About

Fairbanks North Star Borough recreation area of 2,178 acres east of North Pole, managed with the Army Corps of Engineers. Two campgrounds, one at the Lake Park and one at the River Park, each with two loops, total 80 campsites (some pull-through) with potable water and restrooms, plus 6 tent sites on an island in Chena Lake reachable only by non-motorized boat. Camping is available May through September. Chena Lake has a sand swimming beach, boat rentals, a fishing dock and stocked trout, salmon and char; the River Park has boat access to the Chena River and hiking trails.
