About

Oceanside camping on Saysutshun (Newcastle Island), reachable only by a foot-passenger ferry running every half hour from Maffeo Sutton Park in downtown Nanaimo (9am-8pm daily). Camping operated under the Snuneymuxw First Nation's tourism brand for the island, which holds deep cultural significance to the Snuneymuxw people; walking tours and traditional salmon barbecues are offered. Day-use area with playground, horseshoe pits, food concession, fresh water, and hot showers. Open May through October.
