About

Chain Lakes Campground, 38 km southwest of Nanton on Hwy. 533, offers over 90 reservable campsites, including both powered and unserviced options. Natural willow vegetation provides privacy, while the potable water throughout the campground offers convenience. From your campsite, take a short stroll to the water’s edge for a day of relaxation and fun. A playground can be found at the Day Use Area.

Communal fire pits can be found in each campground loop and may be used only during appropriate weather conditions. Firewood is supplied at no extra cost for your convenience. If you choose to use the communal fire pit and are the last person there, be sure to put out the fire before leaving.

Note: Chain Lakes Provincial Park is located along Highway 22, in southern Alberta, where as Chain Lakes Provincial Recreation Area is located near Athabasca in northern Alberta.

Reservations can be made 90 days in advance of arrival date.

When camping in a powered site:

Use 1-2 electrical appliances maximum at the same time. When campers lose power, it's usually because too much electricity is being used at once.

Do not use adapters to draw power from a 15 amp for an RV with a 30 amp plug.

Have a backup plan. Use other methods to cook, stay cool/warm and keep entertained.

Remember, conserving electricity and timing when you use your electricity in a campsite will ensure you can stay powered. Get more information about using power sites.

Firewood: A limited daily supply of firewood is supplied at no extra cost.

Water: Pending weather, normal water service is available from the May long weekend to the September long weekend. Bring your own water to help support water conservation and as a backup measure.

Sewage: A sani-dump station can be found near the entrance of the park and accepts $1 and $2 coins.
