About
Waiʻānapanapa State Park rents simple cabins along Maui's rugged Hana coastline, separate from its tent campsites. Each cabin sleeps up to 6 people. Hawaii DLNR's own page doesn't state how many total cabins there are or describe in-cabin kitchen, bathroom, or electricity - a real, disclosed gap. Bedding and towels aren't provided, so plan to bring your own or arrange a rental in Hana. General tent and cabin camping here is currently open; only a small, separate camper-van area is closed (through March 2027, for a new comfort station) - that closure doesn't affect these cabins. Hawaii state park status has been changing amid Hurricane Lala/Tropical Storm Moke recovery - check dlnr.hawaii.gov/dsp/important-park-notices/ for the current status before traveling.
Fees
$70/night per cabin for Hawaii residents, $100/night for non-residents. Online cabin reservations must be made at least 7 days before check-in, through Hawaii DLNR Division of State Parks' own explore.ehawaii.gov system - the same portal used for tent camping (migrated statewide from the legacy camping.ehawaii.gov system as of February 1, 2026; login required to book). Full payment is required at the time of reservation; cancelling less than 15 days before check-in gets no refund, and a $5 cancellation fee applies to refunds that are granted.
Hawaii doesn't have a winter closure season the way mainland cabins do, but Waiʻānapanapa sits on Maui's storm-exposed Hana coast - check DLNR's live park-notices page for any current storm-recovery status before a trip.
