About the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway
Discover the lush landscape of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest and two of the most spectacular waterfalls in the West—Upper and Lower Mesa Falls . As tall as a 10-story building, the upper falls pour over remnants of an ancient volcanic super-eruption while the lower falls continue to chisel away at the solidified ash and lava. Get an up-close-and-personal experience by exploring the on viewing platforms, or stop at the historic Mesa Falls Visitor Center to learn about the area’s geology and rich past.

About this page's facts
The line is the Federal Highway Administration's scenic byways layer (HEPGIS, a snapshot of 2022-06-24, a US government work), cut at the state line and simplified for the map; the length is the line's. The designation is the program's own: the national tiers from FHWA's America's Byways roster, the rest from the layer's designation field. Road conditions, closures and seasonal gates change: check the agency's own page and the state's road conditions before you go.
